How to Find Out Your MacBook Model & Specifications

If you are planning to sell your MacBook and need to find out its specification, this guide is for you. We will show you how to locate the the following hardware information for your MacBook:

- Types of MacBook 

- Screen Size 

- Processor / Chipset

- Memory / Ram

- Storage 

- Graphic Card 

- Battery Condition

- macOS version
 

About This Mac

Turn on your MacBook. From the Apple menu on the top left corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. 

Here you can see a summary of your MacBook info: 

- Types of MacBook

- Screen Size 

- Processor / Chipset

- Memory / Ram


- macOS version
Next, click on "System Report" within the "About This Mac" window.
Under Hardware Overview, you can find information on:

Your MacBook Types:
- MacBook 
- MacBook Air
- MacBook Pro 

Processor Types:
- Intel Core i3, i5 or i7
- M1 
- M2

Memory size: 
- 4GB
- 8GB
- 16GB 
Next, click on Graphics/Displays to get information of your MacBook's graphic card information. 
For further information for the Memory / Ram, click on Memory. You can find out if the memory size. 
Another important information is the battery health of your MacBook. Click on Power to find out: 

- Cycle Count (this is the number of times you charge your Macbook) 

- Condition (if battery is faulty, it will show here) 

- Maximum Capacity (the maximum percentage of charge it can hold. The higher the better)
To find out the storage size, click Storage. Here you can see what is the capacity of your storage. Usually storage size are:
- 64GB
- 128GB
- 256GB
- 512GB
- 1TB
- 2TB 

Also it will show the type of storage is SSD or HDD. You can round off the capacity nearest to the standard storage size.
