Is Samsung Galaxy S21 worth the upgrade?
Introduction
Since its launch, the Galaxy S20 series has become an incredibly popular smartphone, packed with an array of innovative features that have kept it ahead of its rivals. However, in January, Samsung launched the all-new Galaxy S21 Series – but is it a worthy successor?
The Galaxy S21 comes in a choice of three models, the S21, S21+, and the S21 Ultra. As expected, each model comes with an increasing array of features, but one pleasant surprise is that the S21 actually retails equal to, or cheaper than, the S20 when it was launched!

What’s new?
The all-new Samsung Galaxy S21 series is packed with innovative features and comes equipped with a range of new features compared to its predecessors. Some of the most attractive new additions include:
5G capability
One of the most appealing aspects of the all-new Samsung S21 is that it comes with 5G capability. This is one of the hottest trends in the smartphone world and is going to become a much sought-after request in the coming years.
5G transforms internet browsing, letting users enjoy unrivaled download speeds that are up to one hundred times faster than 4G.
Adaptive refresh
Running out of battery can be incredibly frustrating, but the Galaxy S21 features a unique adaptive refresh rate.
This means the phone automatically adjusts the display refresh rate to optimize battery usage and prolong life.
Gorilla Glass Victus
The S21 also comes equipped with innovative Gorilla Glass Victus, which is one of the strongest types of glass on the market.
Users will be able to enjoy better protection against accidentally dropping their phone, as well as providing them with greater scratch resistance.
Support S Pen
The S21 Ultra comes with S Pen support, giving users the ability to write notes, create sketches, and even control the camera remotely. However, the stylus is sold separately, and the phone does not have a dedicated slot to hold the pen.
Charging
The S21 series comes equipped with powerful and long-lasting batteries and all three feature 25W super-fast charging.
However, the charger is sold separately, so this is something that you will need to factor in for the price.
Improved images
The S21 has significant improvements when it comes to the camera, offering three times optical zoom alongside the incredible Samsung Space Zoom.
The Ultra also comes with a unique Night mode, which is designed to significantly improve the quality and visibility of images taken at night.
No external storage
One change in the S21 series is that there is no micro SD card support in any of the three models. This is the first of the Galaxy models to not come with this compatibility, although users do have a choice of up to 512GB of storage.
The removal of the SD card is often considered an unnecessary addition by many users, so this removal will not cause too many issues.
