Android 10 Best New Features

Google new operating system update – Android 10; also known as Android Q; has been publicly released on 03 Sept 2019 - but only for Google Pixel phones at first.

Other Android phones will be ready in weeks to come. Let's take a look at what's new and what's cool.

1. Dark Mode

You can enable Dark Theme for your entire phone or a specific app like Photos and Calendar.

Help prolong battery life and more comfortable to your eyes when using in the dark.
Caption over video
2. Live Caption

Automatically turn speech into text for watching video mute.

Live Caption works with podcasts and audio messages - even stuff you record yourself.
Text message with option to open map
3. Smart Reply

Get suggested responses to your messages and opening app (such as Google map or YouTube video) relevant to the content.

So, if a friend asks you out to dinner, your phone will suggest you text "Ok". Then, it’ll also pull up directions right in Google Maps.
4. New gesture navigation

Similar to gesture control on iPhone X; Swiping up or across the screen to close, go backward, or switch app.

Device with larger, edge-to-edge screen such as Samsung Galaxy S10+ and Huawei P30 Pro can take advantage of this feature rather than moving to the button of the screen to perform these functions.
5. Focus mode

Immediately pause app such as Facebook or Twitter so you can concentrate on the task at hand.
6. Family Link

Parents can now set screen time limits, device bedtime, time limits on specific apps, to control kid's devices.
Feature to control kid's digital time
Permission to allow data sharing
7. Tighter privacy settings

Notification to ask for permission if you will like to share your location information when using an app.

There are a lot more features in Android 10, but most noticeable is that Google is taking a step towards Personal Privacy. This restricts the app developer from collecting users data without given permission. For more Android 10 development, you can visit
